On Wednesday, June 14th, 2023, Grants Cibola County Schools Superintendent, Max Perez, along with several dignitaries and students all pitched a golden shovel of dirt to signify the much anticipated beginning of construction on the New Bluewater Elementary School! Many community members, GCCS Staff, State and Tribal leaders were on hand to join in the festivities. "This has been a long time coming" said, Mr. Perez. "Delays in the process pushed us back almost two years, but thanks to Representatives, Harry Garcia and Alesio Alcon fighting for us, it finally came and here we are today moving forward and soon, the students and staff of Bluewater Elementary will have a new school to call home"!
It's definitely a great time to be part of GCCS and soon we will be breaking ground on a new school for Mesa View Elementary as well! Mr. Perez went on to say "that we are also in the process of building a new Maintenance shop and department on Sakaleres Blvd that will give us the ability to be better suited to maintain our schools and their grounds, thus giving us a better option to help beautify the community as well". "We are also in the process of renovating our Technology department, thus giving us a better way to serve our students, staff and community with the best that modern technology has to offer.
With the completion of many athletic complexes at Grants High School and the construction of the new Schools, it is very evident that our leadership has put an emphasis on bringing our district into the present and making us ready for the future. It's a great time to be in education and to be a part of the Grants Cibola County School District! Keep an eye out for the many changes, upgrades and advancements coming our way. Our students will have the best available opportunities to see their future and pursue their life goals after leaving our schools!
